Alice, a pretty young girl, skips her rope.
Her mom sits in a rocking chair knitting.
They are in the backyard of their house.

A few minutes later...
The rocking chair swings alone and empty. Her mother's not there any more.

Alice’s mom runs through the hall's of the house. She’s scared. Someone is
running after her.

Somewhere in the house, quiet and innocent, Alice calls.

Alice
Mom? Mom, where are you?

She goes through a set of curtains and starts climbing the stairs slowly.
Her mother is already halfway to the top of the stairs. She misses a step, then quickly recovers her balance and darts upstairs breathing heavily.
Her mother has hurt her knee. She begins to limp, still climbing the stairs slowly. She's lost too much time, and Alice reaches her.
Alice sticks a huge knife in her mother’s back.
Her mother bends then straightens, screams in pain, then turns and pushes her daughter down the stairs.
Alice falls down the stairs, and hits a wall with her head causing her to pass out.
Limping, wounded and extremely scared, Alice’s mother flees down the long corridor.
She runs to the back room, locking herself in.
She takes a knitting needle from a bedside table. This will be her last defense.
She looks around the room in terror.
The room is lined with endless candles. They are all blazing. The candlelight is everywhere.
Alice is walking along the corridor. It’s very dark. She holds the knife firmly in her hand, ready to strike.
As she passes by, she look in all the rooms.

Alice
Mommy? Where are you? Mommy?

She goes into the bathroom, looks in the shower (pushing aside the curtain): no-one’s here.
As she moves, we see her reflection in the mirror.
Alice’s mother sees the door-handle move gently at first, then violently.

Alice
(off)
Mother? Why don’t you open the door? Please, open the door. I’m scared...

Alice’s mother
My child, what’s happening to you?

Alice
(off)
Please, Mom, open the door.

Alice’s Mother can’t resist. Hearing her daughter's voice is too much. She opens the door and Alice enters the room with a dreadful expression on her face. Her eyes are cold and vacant.
Alice stabs her mother again, this time in the shoulder.
The woman falls to the floor. Alice doesn't attack her again. Instead, she waits for her to get up.
The woman brandishes the knitting needle.
Alice seems disappointed.

Alice
Mom? You’re not going to kill me, are you?

The words are too much for her. The woman surrenders, dropping the knitting needle to the floor.
Once again Alice’s expression changes to a raging visage. She attacks her mother using unbelievable force. She stabs her repeatedly, blood spraying her pale face.

Blood spray covers a doll resting nearby, touched by the dancing candle light.
