Bruce Campbell Vs.
Army of Darkness

Army of Darkness is the unofficial third installment of The Evil Dead trilogy; it is also the most comedic. The screen fades up, we see Ash’s boots (how did he go from having Wallabies to boots?) while the narration catches up new viewers to where he’s at…the 13th Century as a slave (and now how did he go from king to slave…eh?). Army of Darkness, a.k.a. Bruce Campbell VS. The Army of Darkness, is the story of our bumbling hero, Ash, being sent in time through a time portal the end of Evil Dead 2:Dead By Dawn and landing in the 13th Century when the deadites are prophesized to attack unless a stranger that falls from the Heavens goes into the woods, retrieves the necronomicon, and says the magic words. Sounds easy don’t it? Easy enough for Ash? If you answered ‘yes’ to either of those questions…go watch the trilogy again. Ash, being the semi-dimwit he is (no offense Bruce, but like you said, Ash isn’t the brightest crayon), screws up and now humanity is doomed…or is it? (Insert suspenseful music) Army of Darkness isn’t the greatest of the trilogy, despite having the biggest budget, but it does give the trilogy a unique look: The Evil Dead horror and our man, Ash, is a wuss that can’t seem to defeat the bookshelves; The Evil Dead 2:Dead By Dawn horror-comedy, Ash is still somewhat a wuss, but he chops his own hand off and Bruce flips himself over about five times, I give him credit; Army of Darkness slapstick comedy with Ash turning into a selfish jerk (why do people love him still after this movie…eh, we find out why in the end).
