At 87 minutes, this "adult movie" starring Jaqueline Lorians, Paul Thomas and 'Detlef Van Berg' (better known as Reggie Nalder from The Man Who Knew Too Much and Salem's Lot ) is almost successful at breaking out of the limitations of the porn market and being an enjoyable film in it's own right. Well, almost. Made in 1985 by Phil Marshak, the plot concerns a private detective trying to locate an ancient book, the Bogen Gelder, which is capable of unleashing powerful ancient entities before it falls into the hands of evil Nazis.

This film mixes pulp staples like private dicks and South American Nazis with distinctly Lovecaftian concepts like an ancient hidden race predating mankind and an evil book that can bring "them" back and destroy the world. Even with all the bad shot-on-video sex I still found it enjoyable to watch. And no, Reggie Nalder does not have sex in the film. This is easily one of the most well plotted porn films to come out of the 1980's, and whether the Lovecraftian elements were intentional or not, they lend a respectability to the whole endeavor.
