H.P. Lovecraft's The Picture in the House

Arguably the first of the "wrong turn" style tales. The Picture in the House tells the story of a young student returning home to see his family. Poor weather, and even poorer transportation forces the student to wait out the storm in a small rural home in the backwoods. Inside he finds a home that time long forgot, and a book that should have been lost forever. Cornered by a strange old man, the student is forced to read the book to the illiterate old timer while he waits out the storm. The student soon learns though that this is one story he may never finish…
