I am currently taping a documentary of the first directing class for Columbia College Chicago's "Semester in LA". We're on a sound stage at the CBS Studio Center. It is possible that I can use that stage, that set, those cameras, those lights, that dolly, AND that class (kids) to shoot something on the weekend. However, the class ends the 4th of July (well, 3rd), so if I'm going to do anything, I need to do it before then. So, I thought "Hmm...I need a short movie that I can show at the HPL fest...a promo or something." Here's what it should be: NO MORE than five minutes. 2-3 minutes preferred (something to shoot in a day, two at most). Takes place in ONE location: a classroom (the set we have on the soundstage) NO period stuff! Must not contain animals, children, nudity, or anything we can't fake with CGI (we can fake a lot). Props/wardrobe should be minimal. I can probably get a lot of people, to, if needed. So, what to do? Here are two ideas I thought of. Let me know what you think: HP Lovecraft gives a book report (or someone else does a book report on the Necronomicon) A Latin teacher gives, as a final exam, a page out of the Necronomicon to each student to read. But I don't know what the punchline of either of those would be. I don't want to repeat the Night Gallery episode "Professor Peabody's Last Lecture", unless we can make it really funny. I want something that's either side-splittingly funny or head-splittingly scary. So, any ideas? Anyone want to dash off something funny/scary to me that I can direct/produce, give you credit but no money? email your comments/questions/discouragement. "The Yellow Sign"
