April 27: Sierras Edge Pictures adapts the classics!

Philip Reyth, cofounder of Sierras Edge Pictures along with Brandon Chessher, contacted Unfilmable.com recently about the goals of their relatively new production company. According to Philip, Sierras Edge Pictures are committed to adapting the stories of H.P. Lovecraft, Algernon Blackwood, M.R. James, Oliver Onions, William Hope Hodgson, Edgar Allen Poe and Henry James, and they are dedicated to producing films that stick closely to the source material while using the styles and techniques of the Silent Era (through the 1940's) combined with the technologies of today...

Their current production schedule includes The Promise (now filming) adapted from the story Keeping His Promise by Algernon Blackwood, An Eldritch Epitaph based on an original story by Philip Reyth, The Old Man based on Lovecraft's The Terrible Old Man and Pacific 421 adapted from the story of the same name by August Derleth...

The films currently in production will be grouped together under the title The Eldritch Cycle Presents: Lovecraft Theater, and will run between 15-30 minutes in length...

April 13: Randolph Carter attends Summer School!

Summer School, the new independent chiller from Random Creatureface Films, was released on DVD recently, and according to Dread Central, one of the special features is a new Statement of Randolph Carter short film directed by Lance Hendrickson.

First we have "The Statement of Randolph Carter", Lance Hendrickson's love song to Lovecraft, which is sung beautifully with notes of atmosphere and eerily spoken words. If there's one thing I've learned from living with a Lovecraftian militant, it is the fact that when it comes to films based on Lovecraft's writings, you either get it right or you fail epically. In my opinion, Lance got it right.

You can purchase the Summer School DVD (for $23.00 shipping included) through Random Creatureface Films, or watch The Statement of Randolph Carter (in it's entirety) here!
