April
12: Cast and crew call for Closet Space
2 and 3!
For
Immediate Release:
Upstart
Filmworks will begin production on two feature
length follow-ups to the soon-to-be-completed
Closet
Space in the fall of 2007. The plan
is to shoot both sequels back to back (possibly
concurrently), and as such, a lot of pre-production
planning will be required. With this in mind,
Upstart Filmworks is beginning the casting
and crewing process so that we have the summer
months to prepare.
Closet
Space has already been courted by several
distributors, festivals, and media outlets,
and we expect to ride this wave of interest
and positive press with CS2 and 3.
Closet
Space 2 and 3 will continue with
the tone set in the original - very dark,
Lovecraftian, creepy, gruesome, and at times
fantastically gory.
Cast:
Looking for all types 20-50, with emphasis
on fit, military types. Martial arts, dance,
firearm handling, and stunt experience are
plusses.
Crew:
Seeking experienced crew for most positions.
Cast
and crew will be paid. Please submit headshot/resume
to:
Upstart
Filmworks
4321-A Tulsa Rd.
Houston TX 77092.

April 11: Del Toro talks
Hellboy 2
Director Guillermo Del Toro spoke with darkhorizons.com
about the Hellboy sequel recently,
and revealed some of what the film (currently
in pre-production) entails...
"It's about the first year of marriage,"
del Toro reveals, "[and] a deadly
war between humans and magical creatures".
Since
the film was scripted during the filming of
Pan's Labyrinth, del Toro says
their might be some crossover between the
two, "Mike was quite horrified by
how much I had deviated from what we had talked
about, especially at some of the quote, unquote
whimsical elements, the parts about magic
and the fairy world. But then fortunately,
he saw Pan's Labyrinth and he realized that
the two movies would have some parallels".
As
a side note, he
cites the Henry James story "The Friends
of the Friends" as one of his favorites,
"a short story that to this day is
one of the most beautiful ghost stories that
I have ever read. But it is rarely acknowledged
and you don't find it in his anthologies"...
