August 20: Closet Space needs extras!

For Immediate Release:

Our final Closet Space shooting day is also our "biggest" scene - we are shooting inside a college classroom and need a few "students" to populate the class and campus. Unfortunately, there's no pay, but you get screen credit in a f-ed up horror movie with tentacles.

If you are interested, and you live in the Houston/Galveston area, here are the details:

We are shooting on this Thursday, August 24th at College of the Mainland in Texas City. Take 45 South to the Texas City exit - FM 1764 (I think this is exit 16). Exit Amburn Rd. You'll see COM on the right.

Look for us in T-055 in the Technical Vocation Building.

The shoot will last from 9 AM - 4 PM. Everyone needs to be there promptly at 9 AM and must be prepared to stay the entire time.

Any questions, email me via MySpace. If you want to be an "extra", look like a college student. Bring book bags, notepads, notebooks, etc. No logos on clothes, please...

According to writer/director Catharine Post, a trailer for Curse of the Hunter's Moon will be shot in September as production of the film has been postponed. Once it is completed, the trailer will be used to procure additional funding through investors. No longer considered a remake (of Curse of the Blue Lights), the film has filled out most of its cast with a mix of experienced and up-and-coming actors and actresses including Russ Russo (Williamsburg, Pirates of the Caribbean 3), Anne McDaniels (an ex-Minnesota Vikings cheerleader), Jackie Billote, Christine Post, Joe Fillipone, Ashley Sword and Jeffrey (Back Slash) Dallet (more actors names can be found on the forthcoming terrors entry)...

A new Cafepress shop has been added with (among other items) the first image of one
of the films ghouls. The boy ghoul (seen here) was designed (along with the films assistant director) and illustrated by Denver, Colorado native Dan Crosier, and will be played by Catharine's son. A girl ghoul is currently in the works...

You can visit the films official site here, or purchase one of the boy ghoul shirts through Cafepress here. Proceeds from the merchandise will go towards production costs. If you are interested in investing in the film, you can contact Catharine Post through the films website...

August 14: Del Toro on Madness...

Source: latinoreview.com

Here are some bits and pieces from a recent Guillermo del Toro interview...

"I was on track to try and do 'Mountains of Madness.' We were having difficulty adjusting the scope of the movie because it's a very broad world that [H.P.] Lovecraft describes. It's a very big palette. We were having problems sort of syncing with a budget that would make it work for the studio..."

"I hope I can find a way to make it on the scope that the story needs...hopefully, 'Mountains' will find enough money or a way to adjust the size of it, but it's a big epic... I wish that I could find the budget for the 'Mountains of Madness' next, but that doesn't depend on me."

"It's like the conceptual art for Mountains of Madness, which are fantastic..."

August 6: Cool Air update!

According to director Albert Pyun (Cyborg, The Sword and the Sorcerer), his feature length adaptation of Cool Air is moving into the final cut and visual effects work will begin in a few weeks!

Albert tells Unfilmable.com, "I think the film's an unusual take on the Lovecraft short story as I've tried to create a movie that places the viewer deep into the mind of the protagonist. A movie that exists in the viewer's subconscious...a movie that's felt and experienced more.

I've tried to capture the feeling of dread and madness so the viewer truly

experiences a waking nightmare--for me the essence of what I loved about Lovecraft's story and his words. It's a very unconventional film that plays with time and space in ways only digital technology allows."

Look for further updates as post-production moves along (including screen grabs)!

August 3: News from The Juggernaut

Here's the latest from BiFF JUGGERNAUT Productions...

Its been a busy last couple of weeks. Our world premiere for "LovecraCked! The Movie" at The Pioneer Theater in NYC went very well with a strong turnout, and better yet folks seemed to really enjoy the film! For pics from the event click here.

We had a follow up screening in Dallas on July 29th hosted by the good folks of Bar of Soap and friend and "LovecraCked! The Movie" co-collaborator Justin Powers. I wasn't able to make it out to that one, but it was apparently a full house with some folks driving as far as 80 miles just to get to the show! From what I hear, the film went over very well with the crowd and Justin's already working on putting together another show in nearby Arkansas, more details on that upcoming show and others soon!

In other news, our first limited run of DVDs for LovecraCked! The Movie are now in production and will be in stock within the next 2-3 weeks or sooner. Reservations for the DVD can now be made at The BiFF Shop. The disc will include about 1.5 hrs of extras and there may even be an easter egg hidden in there somewhere. Look for other cool new BiFF gear at the shop as well, such as official "LovecraCked! The Movie" T-Shirts, posters and other fun stuff.

'Til the next time... Stay Independent!

Elias

August 2: 2006 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival announced!

For Immediate Release:

Lurker Films presents
The 2006 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival
Friday October 6th - Sunday October 8th
Hollywood Theatre
4122 NE Sandy Blvd
Portland Oregon

Come enjoy a smorgasbord of tantalizing tales of terror inspired by Howard Phillips Lovecraft's strange universe.

Founder, director and Lovecraft historian Andrew Migliore is back to bring you this one-of-a-kind festival created to promote the works of the highly influential gothic horror author H.P. Lovecraft (and his peers) through the cinematic adaptations by students, amateur and professional filmmakers. As in years past, the HPLFF includes a mix of feature films, shorts, and discussion panels. This year's Shorts Film program includes a fascinating version of Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart (that includes a voice recording of Bella Lugosi thought to have been lost for years), The Veil, two versions of The Music of Erich Zann and more. Some

of the feature films will include Creature of the Walking Dead and Dead Birds. Discussion Panels will include: Ramsey Campbell, Scott Conners, Wilum Pugmire and Robert Price.

This year's special guests are:
• Author Ramsey Campbell, the renowned British writer considered by many to be one of the masters of late 20th century horror fiction will talk about Lovecraft and the mythos.
• Actress Barbara Crampton, the Lovecraftian scream queen who starred in such early hits as Re-Animator, From Beyond and Castle Freak will grace our stage.
• Scholar Robert Price founder of Crypt of Cthulhu and editor of a score of mythos related horror anthologies will amaze us with the Cthulhu Prayer Breakfast.
• Director Jay Woelfel who directed the award winning documentary Titanic, and the short Batttlestar Galatica: Second Coming will be on hand to show us his first feature film Beyond Dream's Door

Admission is $12 for Friday, $15 for Saturday, & $15 for Sunday. Doors open on 6pm for Friday and 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. Advance ticket sales will be available by the beginning of September. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

For more information visit the website at www.hplfilmfestival.com

Re-animating the cadaverous specter of H.P. Lovecraft's work into film is a difficult task, but in the hands of the loyal, the results can be chilling and darkly humorous.

- Portland Mercury

Long after his death, many writers and fans have kept Lovecraft from becoming a literary footnote... The H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival is in the same spirit, keeping the writer's vision alive--well, squiggling--and on the screen.
