the Raven
For Immediate Release:
 |
Nox
Arcana's new album Shadow
of the Raven is a tribute to Edgar
Allan Poe. The music delves into the haunted
realms of the literary master of the macabre,
weaving a lush tapestry of Victorian elegance
and Gothic nightmares. Whilst exploring
this dark soundscape one is treated to
21 tracks of ghostly melodies, mournful
dirges, eerie sound effects and ominous
orchestrations. The cd also contains a
12-page booklet filled with original artwork
from gothic fantasy artist Joseph Vargo,
depicting Poe's classic works in lavish
detail, in addition to a hidden "gold
bug" riddle.

28: Naschy and the Old Ones?

Spain's Paul Naschy recently completed production
on his latest horror effort, titled Empusa
(which he wrote, directed and starred in),
and he spoke with fangoria.com about the experience...
Naschy
called it, "One of the hardest and
most unpleasant shoots Ive ever experienced.",
but more importantly to Unfilmable.com
readers, he also discussed the films Lovecraft
connection, "It certainly parallels
aspects of H.P. Lovecrafts works. In
this case, we have an aristocrat who is a
fanatical collector of antique artifacts and
also a practitioner of the black arts. He
summons the Empusas into our world from another
dimension to which they have been banished,
and where they have been waiting for the chance
to return, rather like Lovecrafts Old
Ones. Then, as the saying goes, all hell breaks
loose!"
Empusa
is a supernatural story of seamen, fishermen,
ships, and a seagull who happens to be a vampire/witch
woman...

27: Bruce Campbell talks Evil Dead
Horror
Icon Bruce Campbell spoke with Fangoria Radio
Friday night and all the rumored Evil Dead
projects came up in the conversation...
When
the subject of Freddy vs. Jason
vs. Ash was brought up, Bruce commented,
"it blows! You really think Ash would
be allowed to kill Freddy and Jason off? We
[including Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi] didn't
have any control on the project, New Line
did, so there was no reason to do it."
Campbell
added (in regards to the fourth Evil Dead
film), "Raimi still talks about it,
but he's in no rush to do it with everything
else he has going on. Sam jokes,' Maybe we
can do another Evil Dead when we're 70.'"
As
far as the Evil Dead remake goes, "The
feedback from the fans was 90 percent negative.
It's going nowhere. The remake has fizzled
fast at Sam's company."
Of
course, all these films could be on the fast-track
by next week...

From Beyond Unrated Director's Cut
H.P.
Lovecrafts classic tale of suspense
became "a grisly amalgam of sex, shock
and satire" (Newsweek) in the
hands of the creators of Re-Animator.
And now, armed with shocking never-before-seen
footage and special features and on DVD for
the first time, this "bloody good entertainment"
(Time) has evolved into one of the
most gruesomely riveting film experiences
of all time! The Resonator, a powerful machine
that can control the sixth sense, has killed
its creator and sent his associate into an
insane asylum. But when a beautiful psychiatrist
becomes determined to continue the experiment,
she unwittingly opens the door to a hostile
parallel universe
and to the deviant
behavior within the human psyche. With its
victims becoming creatures who feed on
and become aroused by human brains,
the Resonator is the ultimate man-made monster.
And now something's gone horribly wrong and
no one can turn it off!

August 8: Animated Lovecraft!

Zealand's George Schlemmer. The score was
provided by a friend of Unfilmable.com,
MARS of Dead
House Music.
You
can view Shadow Of Time on the films

About
the film: One of the biggest fears of human
kind is the fear of death. Natalie, like most
people, is afraid of death and the dreadful
uncertainty of future. In great despair, she
visits a magical Victorian house to see her
future. She pays for a service and a magical
luminescent ball with morphing capabilities
shows her the future. The ball bounces down
the stairs and lets Natalie dive into her
feelings by its shape changes. Whats
more, the ball makes Natalie actually feel
her future. As the ball continues down the
stairs it morphs into a clock. The clock hands
start spinning and Natalie begins to magically
grow older and older. During another bounce,
the ball morphs into a skull and shows Natalie
her death. She is fighting to withstand the
power of this very moment. With the last ounce
of her strength she stands up and walks towards
the skull to face her own death. No matter
what Natalie saw, there will always be hope...
