Loosely based on "The Call of Cthulhu", the film will be shot over a six month period starting in the summer of 2006. Look for a more detailed look at the production in the next week or so...

December 7: Peter Jackson's Madness?

Ain't It Cool News reports that Peter Jackson and Universal are in talks with Guillermo Del Toro about directing the video game adaptation of HALO (which Jackson will produce). This is only of note because (as AICN mentions), "Guillermo hooking up with Weta (effects work on Lord of the Rings, King Kong) and Peter Jackson is a very very good thing, and could be the start of a relationship that could eventually pay Lovecraft dividends with IN THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS (should read: At the Mountains of Madness) that must must must be made with WETA! So for now, consider this a confirmed rumor that Guillermo is at the very least in serious talks, that are very very close to being finalized. I guess I should find out what HALO is."

December 1: Edgar Allan Poe on DVD!

For Immediate Release:

Lurker Films is proud to announce availability of Volume 1 of the Edgar Allan Poe Collection on DVD.

PORTLAND, OR November 30, 2005 -- Lurker Films, Inc. the world's leading producer and manufacturer of film products based on Weird Tales & Literary Horror announced the release of The Edgar Allan Poe Collection™ Volume 1: Annabel Lee on DVD, available from merchants throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom by December 1st.

The first volume in The Edgar Allan Poe Collection contains some excellent adaptaions of Poe's work including George Higham's award winning stop-motion puppet-animation film inspired by the poem Annabel Lee.

Annabel Lee is quintessential Poe, a haunted soul, a lost love and the nocturnal grave-quest. The epic quality of this Orphic adventure includes expressionist visions of a lone figure on a journey through a nightmarish landscape in order to be re-united with his lost love... but first he must overcome the wrath of the "Envious Angels" that ruined his world.

The volume also includes festival favorite The Raven by Peter Bradley,

and The Tell-Tale Heart (starring European Horror legend Paul Nashy).

As with all our DVDs we pack them with extras, including an informative 8 page booklet on Poe and the films, an interview with Poe expert Paul Clemens (A&E Biography). interviews with the filmmakers, a Wormwood Tarot Easter Egg, commentary tracks, and multiple subtitles.

The Edgar Allan Poe CollectionVolume 1: Annabel Lee DVD will be available through retail at a suggested price of $21.95 USD. The DVD is not rated but a rating of PG-13 is suggested due to strong imagery and violence. Total running time is over 100 minutes.

What they are saying:

"Incredible and incredibly disturbing visuals... Higham's short visually suggests a cross between H.P. Lovecraft and Clive Barker."

- Keith Olexa, FANGORIA magazine

"ANNABEL LEE is a beautifully dreamed film, full of dark splendor. Each shot is rich with the lurid colors and morbid details of a medieval Danse Macabre. Finally, a worthy successor to the films of Ladislaw Starewicz. This is a truly amazing film!"

- Joe Coleman, Artist (Cosmic Retribution, Original Sin)

"Loved, absolutely loved ANNABEL LEE!!! Fascinating - I have watched it a couple of times already."

- Brom, Artist (Darkwerks, Offerings)

"Terrific! I loved every minute...and was blown away by the rats, the skeletons and Death. It was nice to watch something done which respected the material used and at the same time was wonderfully moody and filled with vivid images."

- Robert Weinberg (author/editor of Horror in the Twentieth Century, and much more!)

"Visionary puppeteer George Higham emphasizes the inherent creepiness of moving puppets and sets them against a backdrop of rich expressionist detail. ANNABEL LEE stands as a visual triumph and Higham a name to watch for."

- Emma Anderson, RUE MORGUE

"Brilliant...A stunning vision of Hell on earth."

- New York Press
