February 28: Closet Space at Fear Fest 2!

Closet Space will screen at Fear Fest 2 on Sunday, March 9th at the Alamo Draft House
in Texas. Director Mel House will hold a introductory/preview panel on Saturday, March 8 at 12:45 pm, and the screening is scheduled for noon on Sunday...

February 25: The Last Winter DVD announced



According to Dread Central, Larry Fessenden's The Last Winter will be available on DVD exclusively through Blockbuster on May 20th, with a wider release scheduled for July 29th.

About the film: The Last Winter, starring Ron Perlman, revolves around a team in the Arctic looking to bring in a crew to construct an oil-drilling facility but face numerous problems when they realize the permafrost has begun to melt and something ancient lies in wait beneath...

February 25: Re-Penetrator re-released



Doug Sakmann and Joanna Angel's award winning instant classic, Re-Penetrator, is being re-released on the DVD, The Sick & Twisted Horror of Joanna Angel. The film will be paired with Doug and Joanna's follow-up film, Xxxorcist. Both films are censored versions of the original releases...

February 21: Lurker Flims releases Strange Aeons!

The H.P. Lovecraft Collection Volume 5: Strange Aeons is now available!

This collection includes the featured film Strange Aeons directed by Eric Morgret (with English subtitles, commentary, a bonus "making of" featurette and slideshow), Patrick Weber's short film Maria's Hubris and the animated shorts From Beyond by Michael Granberry and Don't Feed the Book by Robin Ator. James Raynor's latest foray into Lovecraft territory, The Book, has wrapped! The screenplay is based on H.P. Lovecraft's The Book and The Descendent, both of which were left incomplete by the authors death in 1937. The stories were adapted into a single plot by Richard Ellis...

The RIOFAN - Rio de Janeiro Fantastic Film Festival 2008 has extended its deadline for submissions. This is the last call for entries, one week to go!

If you’re interested in submitting your film, you must print and fill an entry form (which is available for download on our website: www.riofan.com.br), and send it with a DVD (screener) until February 22.

Feature films will be considered for our international competition, while short films can be selected for one of our informative sections. There is no entry fee.

RioFan will run from April 29 - May 11, 2008 and will showcase the best in horror, sci-fi and genre cinema. The festival will pay a tribute to legendary Brazilian master José Mojica Marins, who will receive the festival’s very first special award for career achievement, and it will also have an informative section dedicated to films inspired by the work of H. P. Lovecraft.

February 10: Black & white Mist!



The cover art for the two-disc Collector's Edition of The Mist was released recently along with the news that it will contain a special black & white version of the film! Writer/director Frank Darabont tells aintitcool.com that this is his preferred version of the film...

The 2-disc set retails for $32.95 and the single-disc will sell for $29.95. Look for both on March 25th...

The DVD for Gary Fierro's Pickman's Model short is ready and will be available on Amazon.com in the next couple weeks! Special features include a commentary with Conor Timmis (who provided Unfilmable.com with the DVD artwork you see above), Justin Tacchi and director Gary Fierro, an interactive version of H.P. Lovecraft's Pickman's Model, a documentary, the "Creating a Villain with Norman Bryn" featurette, the film's trailer and a photo slideshow...

Eric Valette's Lovecraftian chiller Malefique will be released on DVD through Deimos Entertainment on April 15th. The film tells the story of four prisoners who discover a book of spells in their cell and ill-advisedly use it to try to escape...

February 6: The Casting Call of Cthulhu! ~ updated ~

Writer/director Joseph Nanni sends word that his short (comedy) film Casting Call of Cthulhu is currently in post-production and that the film should be ready for release in early March! The Bad Advice for Good Times production centers on a casting session for a Lovecraft film adaptation in which several minor monstrosities turn out before an actual Old One shows up. The film was co-written by Matthew Fraracci, and The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets have provided one of their songs (Some Things Man Was Not Meant to Know) for the films finale...

February 6: Lovecraft's latest nightmare!



SOTA Toys has added another vision of Cthulhu to their Nightmares of Lovecraft line! Previous figures included Cthulhu, Dagon and the Ghoul from Pickman's Model (all sold out)...

While the original Nightmares of Lovecraft figures sold for $19.99, the new "Ultra Cthulhu Statue" will cost $249.99. The limited edition, individually numbered resin statues will be available this summer (in June or July), and Sideshow Collectibles will carry its own variant of the figure...

February 1: Remembering the Tragedy at Innsmouth

Crawling Chaos Pictures and Page Street Studios is proud to honor the 80th anniversary of the government raid on Innsmouth this month with the first ever documentary to examine this watershed event.

Tragedy at Innsmouth (currently in production) explores the aftermath of the raid up to the present day. Using both archival and reenactment footage and interviews with third generation survivors of the internment camps, we hope to shed new light on this dark chapter of our nation's history.

After 80 years, 'America's first Waco' has not been forgotten. Feb. 1928 - Feb. 2008.
