July 20: The Amazing Screw-On Head debuts on Sci Fi!

The 22 minute animated pilot based on Mike Mignola's The Amazing Screw-On Head debuts on the Sci Fi Channel July 27th at 10:30 pm. Paul Giamatti, David Hyde Pierce and Molly Shannon lend their vocal talents...

~ In this hilarious send-up of Lovecraftian horror and steampunk adventure, President Abraham Lincoln's top spy is a bodyless head known only as Screw-On Head.

When arch-fiend Emperor Zombie steals an artifact that will enable him to threaten all life on Earth, the task of stopping him is assigned to Screw-on Head. Fortunately, Screw-On Head is not alone on this perilous quest. He is aided by his multitalented manservant, Mr. Groin, and by his talking canine cohort, Mr. Dog.

Can this unorthodox trio stop Emperor Zombie in time? Does Screw-On Head have a body awesome enough to stop the horrors that have been unleashed? Where can we get a talking dog?

All these questions (O.K., maybe not that last one) will be answered when you watch the thrilling tale of The Amazing Screw-On Head! ~

The pilot episode is also online (courtesy of Sci Fi Pulse) and the producers are looking for your thoughts. Reaction to the show will decide if it is expanded into a series...

July 20: Evil Dead Off-Broadway!

Source: creature-corner.com

~ Evil Dead: The Musical comes alive at New World Stages on Monday, October 2 for an unlimited Off-Broadway run. Official Opening is set for Wednesday, November 1 @ 7:00 PM. Evil Dead: The Musical, directed by Christopher Bond and Tony® Award winner Hinton Battle and presented by Jenkay LLC, Jeffrey Latimer Entertainment and Just For Laughs Live.

A "dis-arm-ingly" riotous musical comedy based on Sam Raimi's 80s cult-classic horror films, Evil Dead: The Musical unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive. As musical mayhem descends upon this sleepover in the woods, "camp" takes on a whole new meaning with uproarious numbers like "All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons," "Look Who’s Evil Now" and "Do the Necronomicon." Buzzing chainsaws and dancing demons add to the frenzy, slaying audiences with a tale of lust, love and dismemberment... ~

July 15: New Road to L. review...

The Road to L...takes something that we know did not, or could not have happened, turns it on its ear, and pokes so many holes in it that one cannot help but begin to question things a bit. The Road to L. has the ability to shape reality to fit its own needs. This is a dangerous power, one that if not wielded carefully can cause problems for those not ready to handle the implications...

July 12: 10th Anniversary Cthulhu DVD?

A post on the IMDb message boards announced that a 10th Anniversary DVD edition is in the works for the rarely seen Australian feature Cthulhu (directed in 1996 by Damian Heffernan). Also mentioned, is that the film has been submitted to the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival...

About the film: H.P.Lovecraft's classic tale turned into a modern Gothic set piece shot in Canberra, Australia! This unique and clever adaptation of classic literature in the public domain gives credence to the low budget filmmaking talents of Damien Heffernan. Shot on video, the film retains an eerie Gothic mood and cleverly uses modern sets and situations for the old story. Covered in 'Fatal Visions'... this one has to be seen to be believed...
