Olsson sent along the following information for his follow-up to "13:de mars 1941" (The Hole)... The project is entitled "Kammaren" (The Chamber) and will be produced by Big Belly Film. It was written by Robert P. Olsson and Björn-Erik Karlsson, and will be directed by and star Robert P. Olsson. The plot revolves around Adam and Björn who are childhood friends. When they were kids, Adams sister died mysterious in the forest at Adams grandfathers cabin and Adam is having returning dreams about what happened. He is now about 30 years old and he hasn't talked to Björn for a long time. One day Adam decides to call Björn and suggest that they could make a fishingtrip to the now dead grandfathers old cabin. The old cabin is the playground for something really, really bad. The film is based on a concept from the roleplaying game 'Cthulhu Mythos' and inspired by Lovecraft's "The Statement of Randolph Carter". Robert and Björn-Erik Karlsson are currently working on the sixteenth draft of the screenplay. The second draft was actually filmed as "13:de mars 1941". The current draft differs greatly from earlier ones, and is now set in the present. The film will be released in Autumn 2005. An official website is coming soon, so look for further updates... I found the following on Dread Central yesterday, and it looks like it might be worth keeping an eye on... ~ Ted Bohus, writer/producer of The Deadly Spawn, has recently joined with long time friends, Dave Baumuller, Kevin Clement and John Skerchock to form Horror Biz Films... Here's the synopsis straight from the Horror Biz site: "Seventeen year old Bobby, walks with the help of metal leg braces and lives with his nasty parents and repulsive sister, Peggy. He plays with "imaginary friends" provided by the mysterious and ancient "Apocryphal Book of Tarkuhm" provided by his eccentric and somewhat crazy Aunt Sadie. What he does not know is that the monsters and demons are only biding their time until the planets are aligned and they can get him to read the passage freeing their master from the "Hell" of another universe. As this process begins more and more bizarre creatures breach the portal of this world and magically seal everyone in the house including Bobby, his parents, Peggy, her partying friends, and the mysterious Aunt Sadie." Artist William Stout recently talked about his involvement in two of Guillermo del Toro's upcoming projects, Pan's Labyrinth and At the Mountains of Madness. According to Stout, "Rural Basque architecture was the main influence on the exterior set," Stout tells the Del Toro Films fan site, "The rest of the designs were left to my imagination as I interpreted Guillermo's sketches. I wanted an ancient, timeless look for the creatures; scary yet interesting at the same time." For more information on Pan's Labyrinth, and Stout's personal interest in Antarctica (that inspired his work on Madness) click here! (Thanks to http://www.horrorchannel.com/dread/) Greetings my fellow Lovecraftians! Got some news and updates for everyone regarding the anthology: First off, something which those of you who are currently in production may especially want to consider If your film is selected for the anthology, we are requesting that you send us a master copy without opening or closing credits if possible. The reason for this is that in the interest of a more cohesive anthology, we'd prefer not to break up the flow of the feature with individual credit rolls for every short included. Please rest assured, though, that there will be a full credit roll directly following the conclusion of the anthology, which will include all your film's credits together & in their entirety. If you do not have a version of your film without credits available, we will still definitely consider your short for the anthology. In order for us to compile and create the final credit roll for the anthology all filmmakers who's shorts are selected will need to enclose a paper copy of the full credits for his/her film along with any masters you send out. Though the June 30th deadline is still quite a ways off, I thought it would be good to keep everyone informed. Also, we really appreciate all the enthusiasm everyone has shown regarding the project thus far and we will make every effort to reward your efforts :) In other words, even if your short is not selected for the anthology we will still attempt to include it on the final DVD as an extra/special feature :) Well, this little update has run on long enough I think, so everyone please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions or concerns regarding the project, and if any of you have recently sent any preview copies out, please drop me quick email to let me know so I can keep an eye out for their arrival. `Til the next time! (Thanks to Darrick Dishaw) Long time John Carpenter collaborator and producer Debra Hill (co-writer and producer of The Fog, Halloween and others) passed away recently at the age of 54. She was set to start production on the remake soon... (Thanks to http://www.diabolical-dominion.com/) March 20: More Mist Frank Darabont recently discussed (with Lilja's Library) the approach he wants to take on his upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's The Mist. "Whether it's a studio picture or not, I want to go with a very gritty, low-budget indie approach. Big-budget gloss would work against the material, plus I'm excited about trying my hand at a more seat-of-the-pants filmmaking approach on this one than I've used in the past...I'll use whatever approach works best, I want to go as old-school as possible with the effects. It's a rather old-school story anyway; it feels like a movie that might have been made in the '50s. The thing to bear in mind about The Mist is that you don't actually see that much as King wrote it; it's the stuff you don't see that scares you, sort of like in Jaws. I want to maintain the tension of King's story rather than overload the screen with CGI monsters". Stay tuned for more... Lovecraft in Italy? I recently received a link through a Lovecraft related Yahoo group for a film called Road to L. According to the website, "1997: A student of folklore named Andrea Roberti hypothesizes the possible link between the horror literature of H.P. Lovecraft and the dark folk tales of the Po Delta, a mysterious and remote part of northern Italy. 2002: One of the directors of the film comes across a manuscript in Montecatini (Italy) which may have belonged to the American writer. This journal, dated 1926, describes travels in Italy through the Po Delta in search of inspiration in the form of local folk stories: the Filò Tales. 2004: A small, tough crew of international filmmakers is put together with the help of David, a New York actor, to make a documentary on the finding of the journal and on the links between Lovecraft and the Po Delta. If the manuscript really did belong to Lovecraft, it would be an extraordinary discovery. As soon as they begin, however, the filmmakers find that Andrea Roberti disappeared in mysterious circumstances many years before, his car found abandoned on the banks of the Po. The crew sets up its base in the town of Loreo referred to simply as L. in the manuscript as the author of the journal did. During their investigations the atmosphere of animosity and foreboding rises and they soon discover that strange and disturbing things have been happening in the area. Events that the locals are eager to keep secret. The film Road to L. is the true account of what took place behind the scenes of the 11 day shoot, reporting how the failures and revelations experienced in L. came to resemble ever more a journey to Hell." The website states that Robert Englund is the voice of "Lovecraft", but it's unknown whether this is the same Robert Englund who made Freddy Kruger famous. A quick look at his IMDb listing shows it is not among his credits, but the film itself does not have a listing either... The website for the film contains the above storyline, a trailer, [some interesting] links and cast and crew credits. Bob Brinkman reports that he has been unable to contact anyone in regards to the production... Watch this space for more! (Thanks to Luca Tenaglia) March 5: The Miskatonic Acid Test - first mp3 available! For Immediate Release: Ia! It gives me great pride to announce the first mp3 download available from the soundtrack of The Miskatonic Acid Test. The song is "Where the Sun Touches the Sky" by the Conqueror Wyrms, and it's available at http://miskatonic.americanentropy.com/where_the_sun.html. The movie is a re-creation of the infamous Miskatonic Acid Test, a rock concert/happening held in witch-haunted Arkham, Massachusetts in 1969. Bands played, acid was dropped, and a somewhat mad philosophy professor decided to conduct an experiment in cosmic consciousness... one that proved that some things are cosmic, and they also are conscious... unfortunately for us. Enjoy! More to come! Dark Lord Rob (Thanks to Dark Lord Rob) March 5: Flesh of my Flesh gallery added! I've just added a great
new image gallery for Edward Martin's upcoming Zombie film Flesh
of my Flesh. The gallery includes a few images of our favorite practitioner

According to Dread Central, bloody-disgusting.com and fangoria.com (via Empire Online), Sam Raimi approached director Park Chan-wook (Oldboy) about directing the remake of the original Evil Dead. Sam had this to say, "Actually, we did approach him, but I dont think it was right for him. I dont want to put words into his mouth, but he was either too busy or not interested. But that didnt bear fruit and were now trying to find the next person who would bring something strikingly original to it with their vision and talent." He also stated that there is still no script for Evil Dead 4 (or Army of Darkness 2). Click the above link for more... Dread Central reports that The Beat (a column at ComicCon.com) recently interviewed Bruce "Ash" Campbell and he had this to say about the ED remake and ED 4; "About the sequel and the remake? It's actually really simple. We're going to do the remake and none of us feel bad about it because it's our own remake. We're not getting some 1970s TV show out of Aaron Spelling's file draw and making a movie. This is our own movie. So we're gonna update it for a new generation with new effects and tell a new story with a new cast. We'll be pulling the strings from behind. And hopefully they'll like it. I don't know when it will come about. It'll take a while to find a director and to write it and get it all set but it's gonna be made. The sequel. Everybody wants to make it. I do, Sam does, Rob Tapert does, so that's not an issue. The only issue is that this guy happens to have stumbled into a phenomenon. So until that dies down he won't have time. And really there's no more mystery. Thats it. There's nothing beyond that. It really is that simple. To tell the guy who made Spider-man to stop so he can make Evil Dead 4...it doesnt compute." Click here for more. In an update for Anchor Bay DVD releases, bloody-disgusting mentions an upcoming Divimax release of Evil Dead II. No further information is given... (Thanks to http://www.horrorchannel.com/dread/, http://www.fangoria.com/ and http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/) March 5: Rupert Wainwright talks The Fog... Empire Online got to talk to The Fog remake helmer Rupert Wainwright about his vision of the film. Rupert had the following to say in regards to his version, the original and more; "It's 25 years old and there are plenty of reasons to remake it. A little went a long way back then, but nowadays the [FX] technology has got to the point where you can really do a lot with the fog itself. The bar has been raised so high recently, not just in the recent run of studio remakes, but in movies like 28 Days Later. We're being really hard on ourselves, so the end product will provide exactly what the audience wants, not just in terms of shocks and scares and special effects, but in terms of good writing and good performances. It's true to the spirit of the original, but it's pretty different. We've got some pretty major surprises and I don't think horror fans are going to be disappointed." Check out the rest of the interview here. (Thanks to http://www.horrorchannel.com/dread/) March 5: Looking to fund your short film? The website Reel Horror is running a new contest where you submit a script for a short horror film; and if yours is chosen, you get to see your film produced in the digital format and sold over the internet.
